Chris blogged about presentation at the workplace, particularly dress. He indicates that as much as one needs to dress formally...dark suits...it all depends on the company's culture and the kind of work one indulges in.
I say, remain your comfortable self, have fun at work because if you do not enjoy it, you will end up ineffective. Roy Blumendal on his presentation about corporate creativity indicated that one needs to play sometimes as this is a period that one becomes more creative. Moreover, we are individuals and we deal differently with managing our stress. Sometimes the organisation's culture can be boring and I deem there is no harm if one brings life to the office. That can actually impact on the outcome as relaxed people can think positively and therefore be productive. Furthermore, corporate creativity liberates the employee as it allows one to think outside the box and initiate as well as become a self-stater. In short, I advice you fellow interns and everybody in the world of work to have fun and be yourselves, after all the workplace is where you spend the better part of your life.
Enjoy, and hey Gaston I don't want to hear you saying that blowing bubbles is for "les enfant".Remember, in every man there is a boy.

The WOW training application time
Believe this, everything I do,I mean everything, I try by all means to recall all those teachings during the WOW training sessions. Remember; resilience? humility, thinking outside the box? Emotional intelligence? etc. That is exactly what is happening to me.
My fellow interns will remember that this is not my first encounter with the world of work, but it feels like its a whole new experience. I guess the difference is brought by the fact that I have been exposed to and made aware of what is required from an employee in the world of work. I am at the same time keen to apply my newly acquired skills as well as the skills I was not aware I possessed for me to remain employable. The difference could also be a result of the fact that I'm now mature and feel urgency to achieve my career.
The above brings about a great challenge which is to prove myself so as to to be indespensable by the host organisation. I feel under pressure because I now have to identify the attributes that my host organisation values in order to retain me. Our Lesley asked me if my feelings of fear/nervousness and excitement are good or bad. I responded,
"I think is is good because it will keep me on my toes to do the right thing."
That again as you will notice was said recalling Lesley Harris indicating that nervousness before a presentation is normal, infact she indicated that it could be an amazing remedy to make one try her best.
What do you think fellow interns? Please let's share our experiences and encourage one another throughout this thrilling as well as important moment in our lives. Bon chance!
