Corporate Creativity; Have fun and be yourself

Chris blogged about presentation at the workplace, particularly dress. He indicates that as much as one needs to dress formally...dark suits...it all depends on the company's culture and the kind of work one indulges in.

I say, remain your comfortable self, have fun at work because if you do not enjoy it, you will end up ineffective. Roy Blumendal on his presentation about corporate creativity indicated that one needs to play sometimes as this is a period that one becomes more creative. Moreover, we are individuals and we deal differently with managing our stress. Sometimes the organisation's culture can be boring and I deem there is no harm if one brings life to the office. That can actually impact on the outcome as relaxed people can think positively and therefore be productive. Furthermore, corporate creativity liberates the employee as it allows one to think outside the box and initiate as well as become a self-stater. In short, I advice you fellow interns and everybody in the world of work to have fun and be yourselves, after all the workplace is where you spend the better part of your life.

Enjoy, and hey Gaston I don't want to hear you saying that blowing bubbles is for "les enfant".Remember, in every man there is a boy.

Hi Uta
You'll have to excuse me - as I read your posts I have more questions than input... but i guess that makes sense. You are the one having this experience.
First, a couple of suggestions. Be a little more explicit about your host org and the work you are doing. That will help fellow interns interact with you. And don't forget to go to their blogs to track when they have secured an internship, and how they are doing! Be sure to make comments in other blogs.
Now, my questions:
Your first post, since starting the internship is about the pressure you feel to 'perform'. Then your 2nd is about having 'fun' or being creative. How are you managing this balance?
Also, you highlight that you have working experience (before this internship). I know that that was in the school calssroom. What's the difference(s) between these working environments?
Hang in there,
Lesley

Hi Uta
What's happening?! How are you doing? Are you making work fun? And is the effect rubbing off/
How are your colleagues perceiving your contributions, I wonder?
I hope Madeleine (your workplace supervisor) will add a post sometime... of course, I know that your team is very very busy.
Today Rets, Takwana, Duke had an interview. Before it we spoke about you and your successes. I had the impression that you are inspiring the 'interns' who have not yet secured their 'internships'.
All the best
Lesley
